Initiatives at Plants
Working to create environmentally-friendly production plants
Food Recycling and Waste Reduction
As much as possible, waste generated from the factory is recycled. Bread crusts are used for animal feed, waste oil for soap, and food scraps for compost. We are also working to reduce the amount of waste. We measure the amount of waste daily, identify their causes by work process and type, and implement measures and instruction to help reduce waste.
Wastewater Treatment and Water Usage Reduction Initiatives
We use municipal water, well water, and industrial water appropriately according to application and, to protect water sources, we abide by environmental conservation acts (such as the Act on Special Measures for the Environmental Conservation of the Seto Inland Sea and the Act on Special Measures for Lake Water Quality Conservation), local government regulations, and proper wastewater treatment discharge standards.
Reducing Our Environmental Toll Through Reduced Electricity Usage
We have switched to LED lighting not only in offices but also in our plants as well. We are also replacing refrigerators and freezers with energy-efficient models and ensuring sufficient space in raw material storage areas through inventory management to promote air conditioning efficiency.
Saving Energy Through Innovative Rice Cooking Lines
Conventional gas rice cooking lines had poor thermal efficiency, resulting in unnecessary energy consumption. That is why we introduced a rice cooking line that efficiently burns gas using sensors. Compared to conventional lines, this environmentally-friendly design can reduce gas usage by as much as 45%.
